Napa Valley may be best known for world-class wine and unforgettable meals, but there is another side of the valley that deserves just as much attention.
It is the Napa Valley you experience on a quiet morning trail, beneath towering redwoods, or while riding past miles of vineyards with the mountains in the distance. It is active, restorative, and deeply connected to the landscape.

At Wild Vine Napa Valley, we believe a Wine Country vacation can include both indulgence and wellness. You can hike in the morning, enjoy a beautiful lunch, visit a private winery, and finish the day feeling energized rather than exhausted.

Napa Valley Was Made to Be Explored Outdoors

Napa's natural setting is a major part of what makes the region special. The valley is surrounded by mountain ranges, forests, creeks, vineyards, and open spaces that change with every season.

From the valley floor, visitors can ride through some of Napa's most recognizable vineyard landscapes. A short drive away, hiking trails climb into oak woodlands, redwood forests, and rugged hills with views across Wine Country.

Exploring outdoors allows you to slow down and notice details that are easy to miss from inside a vehicle: the morning light over the vines, the scent of bay and oak trees, the changing temperature near a creek, and the distinct character of each Napa Valley town.

For many guests, those become the moments they remember most.

Private Guided Hiking in Napa Valley

A guided hike is one of the best ways to begin a Wine Country day. The air is cooler, the trails are quieter, and the activity creates a natural sense of energy before lunch or wine tasting.

Napa Valley offers routes for a wide range of abilities. A group may prefer a relaxed walk through redwoods and along a creek, a moderate trail with vineyard views, or a more challenging climb into the hills.

Some of our favorite hiking areas include:

- Bothe-Napa Valley State Park, known for shaded forest, redwoods, and trails that can be adapted to different fitness levels
- Oat Hill Mine Trail, a historic Calistoga route offering rugged terrain and expansive valley views
- Westwood Hills Park, a convenient Napa option with rolling trails and scenic overlooks

Every private Wild Vine hike is planned around the group. We consider fitness level, available time, weather, trail conditions, and what guests want to do afterward. The goal is not to push everyone through the same route. It is to choose an experience that feels rewarding and enjoyable.

See Wine Country Differently by Bike

Biking offers an entirely different way to experience Napa Valley. It is active without feeling rushed, allowing guests to cover meaningful distance while remaining connected to the scenery.

The Napa Valley Vine Trail and surrounding roads provide access to vineyards, small towns, restaurants, and wineries. One of our signature routes connects the St. Helena and Calistoga areas, with options to adjust the distance and schedule depending on the group.

Guests can choose hybrid bikes or e-bikes. E-bikes are especially helpful for groups with different experience levels because they allow everyone to ride together comfortably. Riders still pedal and stay active, but the electric assistance makes hills, headwinds, and longer distances more manageable.

A private guided ride may include:
- A scenic morning ride through the vineyards
- A relaxed lunch in St. Helena or Calistoga
- A private winery experience after the ride
- Transportation back to the hotel or starting point
- A customized route based on distance and ability

Because the experience is private, we can set the pace around the people—not a fixed group schedule.

The Perfect Balance: Move, Taste, and Dine

Guests sometimes assume they must choose between an active day and a traditional Wine Country experience. We believe the best days often include both.

A combination day might begin with a guided hike or bike ride, followed by lunch and one or two thoughtfully selected winery visits. This creates variety while still leaving enough time to enjoy each part of the day.

Starting with movement also changes the rhythm of a wine tour. Guests arrive at lunch feeling refreshed, the group has already shared an experience, and the entire day feels more personal than simply moving between tasting appointments.

Our philosophy is simple: work hard, play hard—but never rush.

A Healthy Option for Corporate and Private Groups

Hiking and biking are also excellent choices for corporate retreats, leadership gatherings, wedding groups, and family trips.

Not everyone drinks wine, and not every group wants a full day built around alcohol. An outdoor experience gives everyone a way to participate while encouraging conversation, teamwork, and genuine connection.

For larger groups, we can help design:

- Guided group hikes at an appropriate difficulty level
- Scenic bike or e-bike experiences
- Wellness-focused retreat activities
- Non-drinking Wine Country itineraries
- Outdoor activities followed by a group lunch
- Combination experiences with wine tasting for interested guests

These activities are especially valuable for groups that spend much of their time in meetings. A few hours outside can reset the energy of an entire retreat.

Wellness in Napa Is About More Than Exercise

The healthy side of Napa Valley is not limited to counting miles or reaching the top of a trail.

Wellness can mean moving your body, spending time outside, eating a fresh local meal, enjoying wine thoughtfully, and giving yourself room to slow down. It can also mean choosing a private experience that removes the stress of navigation, reservations, transportation, and timing.

Wild Vine handles those details so guests can be present. Our guides bring local knowledge, hospitality experience, and a genuine love for the landscape. We help each group find the right balance between activity, relaxation, food, wine, and discovery.
